NEWPORT BEACH, CA (November 22, 2022) – Sunday night, Wan Francisco Fernandez died in a car crash on West Coast Highway.
 
The incident happened at around 8:00 p.m. at the 3300 block of West Coast Highway.
 
According to reports, a Mercedes-Benz rear-ended a box truck that was parked along the road.
 
Moreover, firefighters extricated three occupants of the Mercedes trapped inside the wreckage. Then, paramedics pronounced the Mercedes driver, 29-year-old Wan Francisco Fernandez, dead at the scene. Also, responders transported the two passengers of the vehicle to a hospital with unknown injuries. Also, no one occupied the box truck at the time of the incident, Newport Beach Police Lt. Michael Shiavi added.
 
Furthermore, the collision blocked all westbound lanes of the highway, but all lanes have long since reopened.
 
Meanwhile, the circumstances leading to the fatal crash remained under investigation.
