NEWHALL, CA (July 17, 2023) – Saturday night, a horrific pedestrian crash on Highway 14 and Sand Canyon Road left Walter Rodriguez, 57, dead.

The crash occurred at around 8:00 p.m. on Highway 14, south of Sand Canyon Road.

According to reports, as a Freightliner traveled on the northbound side of Highway 14, a pedestrian on the right shoulder stood next to a parked car. Then, the 57-year-old Sylmar male pedestrian walked into oncoming traffic.

As a result, the man succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the authorities issued a SigAlert for approximately one hour.

At this time, the identity of the deceased has been revealed as Walter Ubaldo Rodriguez. Moreover, the authorities haven’t disclosed whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
