Fatal Pedestrian Crash at North Texas Street and Air Base Parkway
FAIRFIELD, CA (January 7, 2020) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash Tuesday morning in Fairfield, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. near the intersection of North Texas Street and Air Base Parkway.
According to police, a male pedestrian was crossing the intersection when a vehicle struck him. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities identified the victim as 49-year-old Walter Ashurst in Fairfield.
The driver of the involved vehicle, a 29-year-old from Fairfield, cooperated with the investigation and stayed on the scene.
Investigators are trying to determine what led up to the crash. They do not believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit asked any witnesses to call Traffic Officer Seth Jamel at 707-428-7300.
