Injuries Reported in Santa Clarita Accident on Lyons Avenue and Interstate 5
SANTA CLARITA, CA (April 10, 2022) – Saturday morning, authorities arrested Vue Xiang following a pursuit crash on Lyons Avenue and Interstate 5.
The pursuit ended just after 3:00 a.m. when the suspect collided with a sheriff’s patrol car.
According to reports, a high-speed pursuit involved a vehicle suspected of carrying stolen catalytic converters. Moreover, this initial incident happened near Valencia Boulevard and Interstate 5.
As deputies pursued the Silver Honda Odyssey, they lost sight of the car around Lyons Avenue and I-5. Hence, they canceled the pursuit.
However, an SCV Sheriff’s K9 unit responded to an unrelated call to assist the Burbank Police Department about a stolen Chevy Silverado. As the deputies responded, the silver Honda Odyssey crashed into their vehicle.
After the crash, the suspects tried to escape but deputies apprehended them after a foot chase. Also, officers found a suspect hiding in a tree at a nearby residence.
31-year-old Vue Xiang, the car driver, suffered no injuries. However, the other two occupants were listed in critical condition. One of them suffered a head injury and brain bleeding. Meanwhile, the other sustained a broken jaw.
Moreover, authorities arrested Vue Xiang who already had a warrant for his arrest before the pursuit for a parole violation.
Furthermore, officers found eight catalytic converters, a saw, and a jack in the suspect’s vehicle.
It is important to always abide by all traffic laws and to do your part to prevent devastating consequences to you and others. Thus, if you find yourself unable to safely operate a vehicle, there are always other options for transportation.
