Vitaly Smith of Chico Arrested in DUI Crash on W 8th Street [Chico, CA]

Chico, CA (January 28, 2024) – 30-year-old Vitaly Smith of Chico was arrested following a DUI crash on W 8th Street early Saturday morning.

CHP officers responded at about 1:56 a.m. to a traffic accident on Main Street and located a pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said Smith was the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim.

Smith cooperated with the authorities and submitted to a field sobriety test. Police later arrested Smith for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officers are still investigating the cause of the collision.
