Dmitry Lezhnin Arrested and Two People Injured in Two-Car Crash on 112th Street and State Highway 500
VANCOUVER, WA (January 28, 2018) – Two men were injured in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 500 and 112th Street on Sunday morning around 8AM.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a dark blue Acura sedan was traveling at 82 mph in a 60 mph zone from Interstate 205 onto Exit 30 to State Highway 500 and Northeast 112th Avenue.
The car, driven by 18-year old Dmitry Lezhnin from Vancouver, took the 112th Ave exit and failed to do a right turn, going over a curb into the northbound lanes. Lezhnin crashed into a red Toyota Rav4 SUV, driven by 81-year-old Lowell D. Finstad of Vancouver. Both cars were totaled in the accident.
Finstad was taken to the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with multiple injuries including a fractured back and sternum, internal brain bleeds, organ damage, and cuts to his arms and head. He was moved to the ICU Monday evening, and was reported to be in stable condition.
Lezhnin was not injured in the accident, and admitted to officers that he was trying not to get pulled over. Passenger in the Acura, 19-year-old Vitaliy Lezhnin, sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. It was reported in court records that he had a broken right hand.
Dmitry Lezhnin was arrested on Sunday morning for suspicion of reckless driving, reckless endangerment, eluding arrest and two counts of vehicular assault. He was booked into the Clark County Jail, but released on Monday after posting bail. His next court date is set for February 9.
