VISALIA, CA – One Killed and Two Injured in Accident on Avenue 344

Angel Gonzalez Lopez, Pablo Gomes, Guadalupe Ramirez Injured in Collision at Road 164

 
VISALIA, CA (May 15, 2018) – A man of Bakersfield was killed in a two-car accident on Avenue 344, just west of Woodlake in Tulare County, early Tuesday morning.
 
The crash occurred at around 5:25 AM at the intersection of Avenue 344 and Road 164. 37-year-old Angel Gonzalez Lopez of Bakersfield was driving down the road in a Honda sedan and was unable to stop at the Avenue 344 stop sign.
 
Lopez kept driving into the intersection and in the direct path of a GMC pickup truck, driven by 43-year-old Pablo Gomes of Exeter.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the impact of the collision caused the Honda to smash through a chain link fence and into a parked vehicle in front of a residential home. The passenger in the right front seat of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene but his identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.
 
Gomes, Lopez and an additional passenger in his Honda, identified as 46-year-old Guadalupe Ramirez of Bakersfield, were all injured. They were transported to the Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment and evaluation. Lopez sustained major injuries, while Ramirez and Gomes sustained minor injuries. There is no update on their current condition.
 
Authorities are still investigating the incident to confirm the exact cause of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be involved.
