Injuries Reported in South Los Angeles Auto Accident on Cimarron Street and 54th Street

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (December 12, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, a violent 2-vehicle crash on Cimarron Street injured an officer.

The incident happened just before 12:30 p.m. on a residential street near the intersection of Cimarron and 54th streets in the Vermont Square neighborhood. 

One of the damaged vehicles came to a halt on a sidewalk after crashing into a fence in the front yard of a home, while the other ended up in the middle of the street, its front end heavily damaged with debris scattered nearby.

No LAPD units were involved in the crash.

Firefighter-paramedics and police officers were seen at the scene, assisting the people involved. The suspect was taken into custody, and two ambulances were dispatched.

Among the injured was a woman in one of the vehicles, as well as an officer who may have sustained a leg injury.

Earlier, the suspect had been involved in another crash during a high-speed pursuit on 59th Street.
