Woman Died in Pedestrian Collision on Village Drive north of Vasquez Avenue
VICTORVILLE, CA (March 9, 2018) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian collision on Village Drive on Friday morning around 4:15 AM.
San Bernardino County Fire and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of the crash on Village Drive, just north of Vasquez Avenue, after being alerted that a pedestrian was struck in the area.
First responders arrived and found a gold GMC Sierra 2500 and a female pedestrian on the road. The woman, described as being in her early 30’s, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained. She was reportedly wearing dark clothing, making it difficult to see her.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup truck was headed south on Village Dr, while the woman was walking towards the south in the no.1 lane of the same street. The driver saw the pedestrian and tried to avoid colliding with the woman by swerving, but was unable to. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
A part of Village Dr between Clovis Street and Llanada Avenue was closed for some time while the Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation. Witnesses or anyone with more information about the fatal collision is urged to contact Deputy A. Hylin or Deputy A. Ramos at the Victorville Police Station – (760) 241-2911.
