Three Hospitalized after Head-On Collision on Mojave River Bridge on National Trails Highway
VICTORVILLE, CA (April 25, 2018) – Three people were sent to the hospital after a head-on crash on Iron Bridge, also known as the Mojave River Bridge, on National Trails Highway.
Authorities received a report just before 2:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon, about a crash involving a 2002 Toyota SUV and a 2014 Chevrolet. According to San Bernardino County, the Toyota was southbound on National Trails Highway when it crossed over a double-yellow line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with the Chevy.
Firefighters with San Bernardino County Fire arrived at the scene and found the wreck blocking the roadway. According to SBC Fire spokesman Eric Sherwin, one patient was flown to a trauma center, a second patient was also airlifted to a trauma center as a precaution, and the third patient was transported to a local hospital.
Officials were forced to shut down National Trails Highway at Air Express Way for a little over an hour. The roadway was passable at approximately 3:20 PM.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine the exact cause. No other information is available at this time.
