Woman Pushing Walker while Jaywalking is Hitby Car near Circle Drive
VICTORVILLE, CA (March 23, 2018) – A homeless woman using a walker was injured in a pedestrian crash on 7th Street, on Friday night.
The incident occurred around 7:35 PM on near Circle Drive. Deputies from the Victorville Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene and found a black Ford Ranger in the no. 1 lane with a destroyed walker in front of it and a woman lying in the roadway.
According to a witness, the woman had just purchased a bag of chips from the Quick Shop Market & Liquor and was trying to walk back across 7th St. She was reported to be homeless and sleeping over by the library.
The pedestrian is described as a black female adult in her early 50’s. She sustained serious injuries and was transported by emergency personnel with the San Bernardino County Fire Department, to a nearby trauma center via air ambulance. Although her injuries were severe, she is expected to survive.
The male driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials at the scene confirmed that alcohol/ drugs or speed were not involved in the crash.
Northbound traffic on 7th Street was temporarily detoured through the adjacent shopping center as officials cleared the scene.
