2 Dead in Bellingham Auto Accident on 1000 Squalicum Way
BELLINGHAM, WA (December 30, 2023) – Thursday night, Victor Guerra-Rico and Moises Ramos-Trejo Jr died in a brutal rollover crash on 1000 Squalicum Way.
The incident happened just after 8:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of Squalicum Way, around a quarter-mile west of Northwest Avenue.
“A caller advised that they were driving on Squalicum Way when then they noticed debris in the roadway. The caller stated when he went to check it out, they discovered a vehicle on its roof, and it appeared someone was deceased,” Bellingham Police spokeswoman Megan Peter said.
As a result, 26-year-old Guerra-Rico and 31-year-old Ramos-Trejo Jr of Bellingham were declared dead at the scene.
Both victims failed to wear a seatbelt and were ejected from the 2017 BMW M4 sedan when it rolled. “It appears the vehicle had been traveling westbound on Squalicum Way, left the roadway, then struck a tree,” Peters added.
Also, officers cited excessive speed as a contributing factor in the crash.
Police, unable to determine the driver, continued the investigation. Meanwhile, the Bellingham Police closed a mile of Squalicum Way.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
Sweet Lawyers extends our condolences to the family and community of the victims.
