1 Injured in Two-Vehicle Auto Accident near Sunrise Drive in Thermal
THERMAL, CA (April 15, 2020) – Monday morning, an unidentified victim was hospitalized after a two-car collision on Highway 86.
The accident involved a Coachella Valley Water District truck and a white Ford Explorer. However, the events leading up remain unclear.
Officers responded around 8:40 a.m., in the northbound lanes of the highway near Sunrise Drive. Authorities immediately located the Explorer with front-end damage.
One person was left with serious injuries as a result of the impact. Police later requested an ambulance to take them to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, the patient’s identity and current condition were not available.
In addition, a towing service was later requested to remove both vehicles from the area due to the extent of damage.
The surrounding area on Highway 86 was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.
California Highway Patrol is currently handling the investigation to determine further information. Once available, more details will be given.
