1 Dead in Tuolumne County Auto Accident on Highway 108 near J-59

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (August 13, 2024) – Friday morning, Vicki Rasmussen sustained injuries in a brutal head-on crash on Highway 108.

The incident occurred at about 7:25 a.m. on Highway 108/120 near J-59.

A 54-year-old man from Ceres, whose identity has not yet been released, was driving a 2014 Buick Sedan eastbound when he veered into the oncoming traffic lane, directly into the path of a big rig truck. The resulting collision was fatal, and the driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash also left two others seriously injured: 66-year-old Rasmussen of Ceres, a passenger in the Buick, and 67-year-old Erich Heinrichs of Turlock, the driver of the truck. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The name of the deceased driver is being withheld until family members are notified.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
