Grant County, WA (December 7, 2020) – Sunday night, 54-year-old Veronica Perez died and several other sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 243.
The Grant County deadly crash happened just before 9 p.m on December 6.
Washington State Patrol reports a 43-year-old Denis Podgayets driving a truck eastbound on State Route 243, near milepost four.
Podgayets then crossed over the center, sideswiping a car heading westbound on the driver’s side.
More so, he continued in the westbound lane, where he crashed head-on into a second car being driven by Perez, of Mattaway.
Perez’s vehicle rolled before coming to a rest on the westbound shoulder, resulting in her immediate death.
Moreover, crews transported three other people to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
WSP says it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this Route 243 fatal crash.
An in-depth investigation is ongoing.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Veronica Perez.
