50-Year-Old Studio City Man Dies in Early Morning Crash in Vernalis
VERNALIS, CA (May 8, 2019) – A 50-year-old Studio City man was killed following a rear-end crash early Wednesday morning in unincorporated Stanislaus County.
The fatal crash took place around 12:23 a.m., on northbound 5 Freeway. Dispatchers arrived just north of the Westley Rest Area shortly after.
Officers located a vehicle stuck underneath a semi truck upon arrival. The paramedics were immediately called for medical assistance.
One occupant was pronounced dead on scene due to the impact of the collision. The deceased victim was identified as a 50-year-old man of Studio City.
Furthermore, it was also determined that the vehicle was traveling at more than 100 mph when it rear-ended the semi.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clean the scene. No additional information was provided at this time. We will continue to update this post as new details are released.
