Injuries Reported in Albuquerque Auto Accident on Interstate 40 and Coors
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 23, 2024) – Saturday morning, 2 people suffered injuries in a vehicle crash on Interstate 40 and Coors.
Reports said that the incident occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on Interstate 40 westbound, just east of the Coors exit.
Engine 4, Rescue 4, Squad 2, and Battalion Chief 1 responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a van and a rolled-over travel trailer.
Upon arrival, Rescue 4 began treating the passenger, while Engine 4 and Squad 2 worked to extricate the trapped driver.
Due to significant damage to the driver’s compartment, the extrication took around 30 minutes. Rescue 4 transported one patient to the hospital, while Albuquerque Ambulance Service (AAS) transported the other.
Both individuals sustained serious injuries. AFR remained on the scene until 10:30 AM, and traffic on I-40 WB was reportedly still backed up as of 11:20 AM. However, NM DOT cameras later showed traffic moving again.
