Officers Arrest Kevin Kansanback in Collision Near Milepost 56

Cowlitz County, WA (September 7, 2022) – On Monday, Vasile Oros, 30, of Kirkland, sustained injuries while officers arrested Kevin Kansanback, 37, of Vancouver, in a DUI crash on Interstate 5.

It was about 11:15 p.m. when the traffic collision happened near Milepost 56, south of Toledo.

According to the authorities handling this case, Kansanback was driving a 2005 Acura TL in the left lane. Suddenly, his vehicle rear-ended a 2014 Audi A6 driven by Oros at high speed.

As a result, the Audi collided with a tractor-trailer in the right lane and struck the left-side barrier before it rested in the right lane.

The paramedics rushed Vasile Oros to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center with injuries.

His passengers, 27-year-old Livius-Simon Oros, and 29-year-old Cristian Vasile, both of Romania, did not sustain injuries from the collision.

Similarly, the tractor-trailer driver, 44-year-old Michael O’Brien, of Hillsboro, OR., also did not incur injuries.

Moreover, officers say speed as the cause of the Interstate 5 DUI crash. They arrested Kevin Kansanback on suspicion of DUI and booked him into the Cowlitz County Jail.

There are plenty of ways to practice safe and defensive driving. One of these is to make sure we don’t drink and drive to avoid incidents like the one that injured Vasile Oros.
