Vanessa Julian Fatally Injured by Vehicle on N 9th Street in Modesto

34-Year-Old Woman Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Carver Road

 
MODESTO, CA (April 1, 2018) –A woman lost her life after getting struck by a vehicle, late Sunday morning. She was later identified as 34-year-old Vanessa Julian of Modesto.
 
According to reports, the accident happened around 11 AM. Julian was pushing her bicycle while trying to cross in an unmarked crosswalk on N 9th Street, just north of Carver Road, when a 2015 Hyundai Velostor hit her.
 
Police officials and emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the collision. She had sustained critical injuries and paramedics began to treat Julian on their way to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
 
Louis Bowman, a 27-year-old resident of Modesto, was identified as the Velostor driver. He stayed at the scene after the collision and cooperated with the investigators.
 
The cause of the collision has yet to be determined after gathering enough evidence and witness statements. Drugs nor alcohol are seen as factors in the accident. No other information is available at the moment.
