30-Year-Old Vanessa Cosain Hospitalized after Crash in Ballico
BALLICO, CA (February 20, 2019) – On Wednesday night, 30-year-old Vanessa Cosain from Ballico was injured in a car accident on Santa Fe Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:00 PM just east of Palm Avenue.
21-year-old Samuel Torres from Turlock was driving a 2000 GMC truck eastbound on Santa Fe Drive. At the same time, Cosain was driving a 2011 Ford Escape westbound on the same road. Torres drifted into the westbound lane and hit Cosain head-on. Due to the impact, the Ford overturned into a ditch off the road.
Paramedics arrived shortly after the accident was reported. Officials stated Cosain had her two children in the vehicle, a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old. Fortunately, both children were not injured. but Cosain sustained moderate lacerations to face and farms.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital. In addition, Torres suffered major injuries to his foot and was also taken to a local hospital. Their current medical conditions are unclear at this time.
Both lanes on Santa Fe Drive were closed for about one hour. After the road was cleared of debris and an investigation took place, all of Santa Fe Drive reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
