Fatal Car Crash on 800 Block of Northwest 99th Street
VANCOUVER, WA (March 6, 2018) – A fatal t-bone accident occurred on Tuesday morning on the 800 block of NW 99th Street, in front of Columbia River High School.
According to reports, a student was pulling out of the high school parking lot on 99th in a green Subaru Legacy around 10:15 AM, when it crashed into a westbound grey Volkswagen Jetta with an elderly couple inside.
Police officials and Fire District 6 personnel arrived at the scene of the accident and pronounced the elderly woman dead. Her male passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The student was also hospitalized with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. There is no update on the injured victims’ current condition.
The Jetta sustained front-end damage and stopped in the sidewalk, while the Subaru came to rest facing west in the road. Access to the high school and the sections of NW 99th were closed off for several hours while authorities investigated.
Drugs and alcohol do not seem to be contributing factors in this incident. The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation at this time. No other information has been released.
Heartfelt condolences to the deceased woman in this tragic accident. May she rest in peace.
