3-Year-Old Child Hospitalized after Three-Vehicle Collision
VANCOUVER, WA (March 23, 2018) – A 3-year-old girl was transported to the hospital after receiving injuries from a three-vehicle collision on State Highway 500, late Friday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred just before noon. 35-year-old Valerie Quenelle was traveling in a 2008 Dodge Caravan and did not slow down for traffic on the ramp, just south of Interstate 205. As a result, her vehicle rear-ended and pushed a 2014 Toyota Camry forward with enough force to hit the bumper of the 2007 Dodge Caravan in the front.
The drivers of the three vehicles were reportedly unharmed from the crash. However, Quenelle’s three-year-old passenger sustained injuries and was sent to the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Fortunately, the girl recovered fast and was released earlier than expected.
Authorities said that Quenelle’s careless driving, such as inattention and speeding, was the main cause of the collision. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors in the accident. The WSP cited Quenelle for speeding.
The 2008 Dodge Caravan and Toyota Camry were totaled and towed from the scene of the collision.
