Valerie Ibarra of Montebello Dies in Alabama Street Hit-and-Run Crash [Redlands, CA]

Redlands, CA (November 28, 2023) – Valerie Ibarra, 38, of Montebello, was killed in an Alabama Street hit-and-run crash Saturday morning.

It was about 6:25 a.m. when the driver of an eastbound black Kia on San Bernardino Avenue ran a red light. The vehicle broadsided a northbound big rig on Alabama Street.

The Redlands Fire Department said the Kia became mangled and one passenger had to be cut from the vehicle. Responders took all three Kia passengers to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition.

One of them died from her injuries. She was identified as Valerie Ibarra.

The other two victims, a 31-year-old San Bernardino resident, and a 38-year-old Redlands resident, remain in critical condition.

The big rig driver, a 38-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident, incurred minor injuries.

Moreover, investigators said that the Kia driver ran from the scene.

CHP officers said the Kia’s owner was one of the passengers and they do not know why that person was not driving. The authorities are looking for the driver who fled and his relationship with the passengers.
