Alberto Lucio, Lance Cpl., Struck Dead on Interstate 5 and Las Pulgas Road Accident
NORTH COUNTY, CA (December 7, 2021) – Early Monday, a US Marine, Alberto Lucio, 20, died in a crash on Interstate 5 and Las Pulgas Road.
According to reports, an initial crash happened on south Interstate 5, south of Las Pulgas Road, near Camp
The CHP said that a Ford Edge driver went south of the freeway. Then, the driver lost control and crashed in the traffic lanes with no lights on.
Afterward, the young Lance Cpl. stopped to render aid to the SUV driver and passenger.
However, a 47-year-old man driving a box truck then crashed into them. As a result, the Marine succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old male SUV driver and 31-year-old female passenger went to the hospital with major injuries.
CHP Sgt. Nicole Pacheco confirmed that authorities will book the SUV driver into jail. He’ll be arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges upon release from the hospital.
Also, the crash shut down most of the southbound lanes in the crash. By 9:00 a.m., five hours after the traffic alert was issued, three of the four lanes reopened.
