Tylor Krout Killed, Eugene Jorgensen Arrested after Woodland Suspected DUI Crash on 422nd Street and Hayes Road
WOODLAND, WA (September 24, 2019) – A 30-year-old Vancouver man identified as Tylor A. Krout died in a car crash on Monday, September 23.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel rushed at around 10:48 a.m. to Northwest 422nd Street and Hayes Road. The first crews to arrive discovered a red Nissan Pathfinder that had overturned several times off the roadway and struck a power pole.
Two ambulances and a LifeFlight helicopter were called to the scene. However, a short time later, responders stated a person at the crash scene was dead upon arrival.
According to a local news release, officers found Krout dead on the ground near the Pathfinder.
The driver of another vehicle that traveled with the Nissan stopped and helped at the scene.
However, the driver of the Nissan, identified as 57-year-old Eugene A. Jorgensen, of Vancouver, walked away from the scene. After that, he hitchhiked in a late-model white Ford pickup truck towing a fishing boat, the sheriff’s office said. However, detectives don’t think that the person knew that Jorgensen was a suspect in a crime.
A news release said that deputies later found out that Jorgensen returned to his Orchards-area residence. After that, deputies discovered that Jorgensen had fled again. A police dog tracked Jorgensen, which lead to his arrest.
Officials rushed Jorgensento a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash and a dog bite. After that, he will be booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run.
Excessive speed and driver intoxication may have played a role in the crash. However, an investigation continues.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones and friends of Tylor Krout.
