2 Men Hospitalized in Critical Condition after Electrically Shocked becuase of Faulty Wiring
IRWINDALE, CA (September 8, 2018) – Two workers were in critical condition after suffering electric shock at the Irwindale Speedway.
The incident happened about 2:30 PM at the motorsport venue. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, two men were working near a pit trailer when both were suddenly shocked.
Paramedics and racetrack medical crews responded to the scene, and the victims were transported to a local hospital. Both were listed to be in critical condition, with one suffering cardiac arrest. They are now conscious after treatment, but their is no update on their current medical status.
Authorities said the source of the shock appears to be an enclosed trailer, and faulty wiring inside the trailer was the issue. Power was shut off at the location temporarily and Southern California Edison personnel were summoned to investigate. Officials said that there was no threat to the public and continued with races as scheduled. No further details have been disclosed, as an investigation is on-going at this time.
