Three-Vehicle Crash Started Brush Fire along Highway 702 and 8th Avenue S
DARRINGTON, WA (August 6, 2018) – Two teenagers were killed in a car crash near Clear Creek Road on Monday afternoon, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. The deceased victims’ names and places of residence were not released to the public, pending notification of family members.
Investigators stated that the incident occurred just before 3:00 PM when the truck carrying the teens crashed into a large piece of construction equipment. The equipment was parked on the side of the road near Clear Creek Road and Mountain Loop Highway.
A 17-year-old from Darrington and a 19-year-old from Aberdeen were pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the fatal incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision, but have reason to believe that speed might have been the cause. Roads were closed for some time following the crash, for cleanup and preliminary investigation. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional information has been disclosed at this time.
