2 Killed and 4 Injured after Rear-End Collision on San Gabriel River Freeway at Rosecrans Avenue

NORWALK, CA (July 16, 2018) – Two people were killed early Monday morning and four others were injured, following a suspected DUI crash on 605 Freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at 1:06 AM on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway at Rosecrans Avenue. A 1999 Ford Windstar, driven by 22-year-old Martina Beshara of Paramount, was disabled in the No. 3 lane when it was rear-ended by a 2006 Infiniti M45.

The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to burst into flames. A 52-year-old male passenger inside the minivan was able to exit the vehicle with the help of Good Samaritans, while Beshara and two other passengers – a 19-year-old woman and a 7-year-old girl – remained inside. Unfortunately, the male passenger and the 19-year-old woman succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Beshara and the girl were transported to a local hospital after suffering injuries ranging from moderate to major.

The Infiniti driver, 31-year-old Alex Barragan of Norwalk, and his passenger, 22-year-old Monica Madrid, were treated at the scene after sustaining minor injuries. Barragan was later arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victims. May they both rest in peace.
