Man and Woman Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Hay Road

DIXON, CA (July 20, 2018) – A man and a woman were killed early Friday evening following a head-on crash on Highway 113. Their identities were not released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened shortly after 5:00 PM, between Hay Road and Fry Road. A northbound Mini Cooper was seen speeding when it drifted off the road.

When the driver attempted to return to the highway, he overcorrected and collided head-on with a gray Kia Sorrento. The driver of the Mini Cooper and the female driver of the Kia sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Their names and cities of residence were not immediately available.

Caltrans temporarily shut down the road for nearly three hours to make way for an investigation and clearing operations. Affected areas were reopened shortly after 8:00 PM. It is unclear whether or not drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal collision.

No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.

Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victims. Our thoughts and prayers are with their bereaved loved ones during this difficult time. May they both rest in peace.
