Driver and Passenger Hospitalized after Car Crashes into Disabled Vehicle near Weyerhaeuser Way South
FEDERAL WAY, WA (January 1, 2019) – Two people were injured early Tuesday morning following a DUI crash on Highway 18.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened near Weyerhaeuser Way South, at about 4:15 AM. A Ford Focus was traveling westbound when it crashed into an unoccupied Hyundai Electra parked on the right shoulder of the freeway.
The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old Tacoma man, and his passenger, a 21-year-old Maple Valley man, both suffered unspecified injuries. They were transported to St. Frances Hospital for treatment and evaluation. Further updates on their current medical conditions were not provided.
Investigators believe that drugs or alcohol, along with speed and inattention, were probable factors in the crash. Additional information will be released to the public once it becomes available.
