Man and Woman Hospitalized in Interstate 5 Crash
Shields, CA (June 25, 2021) – On Thursday, two motorcyclists, both from Washington, were injured in Interstate 5 crash.
The accident took place north of Shields wherein a car on was consumed by fire.
Authorities said an elderly man was driving his Subaru Forester northbound on the freeway.
He struck two southbound motorcyclists head-on. Both of the riders, a man and a woman, were thrown from their bikes.
The incident led everyone to rest in the median while the Subaru started a fire as a result of the crash.
The elderly man was able to get out of the burning car but sustained minor injuries.
Right away, responders airlifted the two bikers to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries to their lower bodies.
Officers said their injuries are non-fatal and driving under the influence is not suspected at this time.
