2 Motorcyclists Killed in Collision with Vehicle near 1st Avenue Northeast
SHORELINE, WA (July 11, 2018) – Two people were killed Wednesday evening following a motorcycle crash on State Route 104 near Lake Ballinger.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision took place shortly before 7 PM. Three motorcycles were heading east on SR 104 when two of them slammed into a westbound SUV.
Witnesses claimed that the three motorcyclists were driving at a high rate of speed when a vehicle turned onto the highway from a side street. One of the motorcyclists was able to slow down and avoid the oncoming vehicle, but the others continued on at high speed.
The impact ejected both motorcyclists, and one of them was run over by a truck. They were both pronounced dead at the scene, while the third motorcyclist and the occupants of the SUV were reportedly unharmed. Their identities were not immediately released pending notification of family members.
Affected areas were temporarily shut down for about four and a half hours to make way for an investigation and clearing operations. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
We extend our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased victims. May they both rest in peace.
