Motorcyclist and Passenger Dead after Motorcycle Accident on Hornitos Road
SNELLING, CA (June 17, 2019) – Two people died following a motorcycle accident on Hornitos Road late Friday morning.
Authorities responded to the collision around 11:10 a.m., near Robinson Road.
According to reports, a male and female were riding south on Hornitas Road in a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
There, they tried to pass a 2014 Toyota RAV4 driven by 61-year-old Merced resident Christine Marie Vanloon.
The motorcycle eventually sideswiped an oncoming 2013 Chevrolet Pickup Truck hauling a trailer.
The bike then veered back into the southbound lane, where it subsequently struck the Toyota as a result. Both riders were immediately thrown off the bike upon impact.
Once paramedics arrived, both motorcyclists were pronounced on scene due to the extent of their injuries.
The driver of the Chevy was also later identified as 34-year-old Lewis Conway Prock of Denair. He and the other victim involved remained uninjured.
Furthermore, the incident occurred on a double yellow line section of road that comes to a crest.
The names of the deceased are currently being withheld, pending notification of their families. No more details have been released to the public at this time.
