Speeding Car Crashes on Highway 44 in Redding Killing Two People
REDDING, CA (November 11, 2019) – Two people were killed following a high-speed crash late Monday afternoon in Redding.
The crash happened a little after 5:00 p.m. on westbound Highway 44 at Victor Avenue, just past Shasta View Drive.
According to CHP officers, a Chevrolet Corvette was traveling at high speed, approximately over 100 mph, and had been passing unsafely. It then went off the roadway, hit a guardrail and went down into an embankment.
As a result, the two occupants inside the car were both ejected. Paramedics rushed them to a hospital but both were pronounced dead on arrival.
One of the victims was a 27-year-old male from Redding, CHP officials said.
Authorities are still investigating the other factors involved in the crash.
