Driver and Passenger Dead in Fiery Crash with Flatbed Truck on Highway 16 in Sloughhouse
SLOUGHHOUSE, CA (September 26, 2019) – Two people were killed following a fiery crash Thursday morning in Sacramento County, authorities said.
The crash happened around 11:00 a.m. on Highway 16, also known as Jackson Road, near the Davis Ranch produce market.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a blue Honda CR-V was traveling westbound on the highway when for unknown reasons, it veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a flatbed truck.
The Honda went underneath the truck and caught fire.
As a result, both the driver and passenger of the Honda died at the scene. Their identities were not immediately available.
Westbound lanes of Highway 16 were closed for several hours, according to Caltrans. The roadway has since reopened.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
