Man and Woman Dead in Crash at Highways 12/113 Roundabout
RIO VISTA, CA (September 18, 2019) – Two people were killed following a car accident late Wednesday evening in Rio Vista.
The crash happened around 10:35 p.m. at Highway 12 and Highway 113.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Toyota Prius was heading west on Highway 12 toward Suisun City when it slammed into the new roundabout at the intersection.
The driver, a 80-year-old Rio Vista man and his passenger, a 79-year-old Suisun City woman, died at the scene. The Solano County Coroner’s Office did not release their names pending family notification.
The Prius was traveling at an unknown speed when it hit the new concrete roundabout, the CHP reports.
Preliminary CHP reports from the scene indicated that a passerby performed CPR on one of the crash victims.
Authorities closed the highways near the crash site until after 1:35 a.m. while they investigated the accident.
