Driver Injured in DUI Crash on La Penca Azul

 
Alameda, CA (March 27, 2021) – On Thursday, two were injured in a DUI crash on La Penca Azul at Park Street.
 
The crash took place at about 8:45 p.m. in a popular Mexican restaurant at Santa Clara Avenue intersection.
 
Reports said the suspect’s vehicle initially struck a northbound vehicle that was stopped for a red light at Santa Clara Avenue.
 
Then, the suspect’s vehicle turned onto Santa Clara and crashed with the restaurant’s outdoor dining parklet.
 
Moreover, the vehicle suspect driver and the two children passenger were not injured. Authorities did not say how old the children are or what their relationship is to the suspect.
 
Also, officers did not say how old the diners are or if they know each other.
 
Rescuers took them to local hospitals with mild and non-fatal injuries.
 
Meanwhile, police arrested the unidentified driver after determining they were under the influence of alcohol. They booked the driver at Santa Rita Jail.
 
Police continue to investigate the crash.
