Two Hospitalized after Single-Vehicle Collision in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 25, 2018) – Two people were injured in a solo-car crash on Scripps Poway Parkway around 2:00 PM Tuesday afternoon near Sunshine Peak Court. The identities of the victims have not yet been released to the public.
According to San Diego police, a 2014 Infiniti Q50, driven by a 27-year-old man, lost control, slid sideways into the center media, and then struck a tree. Due to the impact of the collision, the tree fell on top of the car, trapping the male driver and his 26-year-old female passenger.
San Diego Fire-Rescue firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident and extracted the driver quickly. They had a very difficult time extracting the female passenger, as it took them over an hour to free her. Authorities stated the driver was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries while the passenger was airlifted to a trauma center with life threatening injuries. Their current medical conditions are unclear at this time.
Officers believe slippery roads caused the car to spin out of control. Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the crash. No further details have been released to the public.
