Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 Send Two People to Hospital
Castaic, CA (October 29, 2020) – On Wednesday, two people were injured in a fiery three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.
Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Sky Cornell said the initial call came in at 4:18 p.m. as a brush fire. However, when units arrived at the scene, they saw it was a multi-vehicle crash involving a trailer.
He said, “It’s not a brush fire — turns out it was an RV or trailer of some kind.” Also, he said the burning trailer has propane tanks on it that could explode.
Furthermore, two other vehicles were involved in the initial crash which occurred under a freeway overpass. All three vehicles were on fire.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the three-vehicle blaze within the hour. They prevented the fire from spreading to any brush.
Finally, the responding fire department units were done by 5:46 p.m.
Immediately, the rescuers rushed two patients to the hospital.
Moreover, the CHP issued a SigAlert at 4:34 p.m. to be in effect for an unknown duration. Also, they closed the three left lanes while first responders worked on the scene.
Meanwhile, the furthest right lane remained open to allow the fire department to pass through.
While waiting for tow trucks to move the burned-out vehicles off the road, CHP officers diverted traffic off the freeway near Templin Highway and then back on after passing the crash.
Practice safe driving habits on the road at all times. Even when it is empty, even when there is no police officer around to make sure you make a full and complete stop.
