Embarcadero Road Sideshow Crash Results in Injuries
Palo Alto, CA (November 26, 2021) – On Friday, two people sustained injuries in a sideshow crash on Embarcadero Road.
It was about 1 a.m. when the incident started near the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve.
An officer spotted a sideshow while on a routine patrol. So, the authorities arrived and approached the show with their lights and sirens on.
Immediately, the vehicles fled westbound at a high rate of speed while the authorities approached eastbound.
A red 2013 Chevrolet Camaro struck the left front tire of a police vehicle that was about to perform a U-turn.
Then, the Camaro drove westbound for about a quarter-mile and veered off the roadway. Finally, the vehicle struck a tree on the north side of the 1900 block area.
On the other hand, the other cars sped westbound and the officers did not pursue the chase.
Right away, the emergency responders rendered medical aid to the two occupants of Camaro. The paramedics rushed them to the hospital with major injuries and are in intensive care.
Officers said that the Camaro’s driver is an East Palo Alto man in his twenties, while his passenger is a woman in her twenties. Neither of them was wearing a seat belt during the incident.
Moreover, the officers also rushed a small dog that was in the Camaro to an emergency veterinary hospital. However, the clinic later euthanized the dog because of its injuries.
No officers suffered injured in the crash and the patrol vehicle was still drivable.
