Interstate 90 Two-Vehicle Crash Injures People
Kittitas County, WA (July 24, 2021) – On Wednesday, two drivers and a passenger suffered injuries in Interstate 90 crash.
The accident happened at minutes before 12:30 p.m. near Kachess Lake.
A 78-year-old Moses Lake man was westbound on the freeway at milepost 68.
At the same time as a 48-year-old Issaquah driver in a RAM 2500 pickup truck was also heading the same direction.
The authorities said the Moses Lake man tried to merge into the same lane as the Issaquah driver, who was trying to pass him.
As a result, the pickup truck driver struck a WSDOT barrier before it tripped and rolled. Then, it stopped, blocking all three lanes of the freeway.
Meanwhile, the Moses Lake man’s Subaru Forester stopped on the highway’s left shoulder.
Emergency responders took the RAM truck driver, a 14-year-old passenger, and a 17-year-old passenger to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Officers said the 17-year-old was not injured in the accident but was taken with the two other occupants of the same vehicle.
On the other hand, the driver at fault also incurred injuries in the accident. Paramedics treated him at the scene.
WSP Troopers said that the driver at fault was not impaired by drugs and/or alcohol during the crash. His passenger did not suffer injuries in the crash.
Moreover, officers said that everyone involved in the accident was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
No further information about the victims’ condition were released at this time.
