2 Hurt after Big Rig Crash on Interstate 5 near Harbor Drive
OCEANSIDE, CA (August 27, 2019) – Two people suffered injuries in a big rig crash on Interstate 5, Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:40 AM. A big rig carrying a large excavator slammed into the rear of a stopped truck near Harbor Drive. Then, the impact sent the big rig tumbling down an embankment on the side of the freeway.
Good Samaritans rushed to the crash site and extinguished the fire caused by the collision. Then, emergency responders arrived to render aid to the truck drivers after they sustained minor injuries. It is unknown whether or not the drivers required hospitalization.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
