Suspected DUI Drivers Injured in Melrose Road Head-On Crash in Oceanside
Oceanside, CA (December 8, 2020) – Monday night, two drivers sustained injuries after a head-on crash on Melrose Road near Willowbrook Drive.
The Oceanside crash happened at around 8 p.m. on December 7.
Oceanside police reported an Infinity driver was heading the wrong way on Melrose Road near Willowbrook Drive when the vehicle collided with a Chrysler sedan coming in the opposite direction.
In effect, the 49-year-old Vista man drove the Infinity transported to a hospital with pain complaints in his back and chest.
A 30-year-old man from Pauma Valley, driving the Chrysler, complained of injuries to his hands and bruising and cuts in his pelvis area.
Moreover, a video of the collision shot by OnScene TV showed significant front-end damage to both cars and damage strewn across the center double yellow line of the roadway.
Police then found a bottle of alcohol in the Infinity and discovered prescription medication and suspected narcotics in the Chrysler. They suspect both drivers were impaired at the time of the crash.
An investigation is on-going.
