Fairfield Lieutenant Involved in Two-Vehicle Crash near Christine Drive
VACAVILLE, CA (April 4, 2019) – Two people suffered serious injuries Thursday afternoon following a head-on collision on Ulatis Drive. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the victims.
According to the Vacaville Police Department, the incident happened near Christine Drive, at about 4:00 PM. A pet grooming van stopped at the intersection and pulled out into the westbound lane. There, it was struck by a Jeep Wrangler. The impact of the crash caused the van to overturn.
The Jeep driver, identified as a 24-year veteran of the Fairfield Police Department, had multiple fractures of the shoulder, elbow, arm, and leg. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old van driver suffered fractured ribs and ankle. Further updates on their current conditions were not provided.
Witnesses allegedly saw the lieutenant driving erratically before crossing into the wrong lane and colliding with the van. An investigation is ongoing to verify the statement and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
