Two Kids Hurt in Barstow Pedestrian Accident
BARSTOW, CA (April 22, 2019) – Two children were stuck by a car and serioulsy injured on Yucca Avenue April 20, the Barstow Fire Department revealed.
Details are scarce, but Barstow Fire Protection District officials said they treated the two victims, both under the age of 8, after the crash occurred at an apartment complex in the 200 block of North Yucca Avenue just after 7:30 p.m.
Medics flew the two victims to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. Craig Hernandez told the Daily Press the injured children were his grandchildren, an 8-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl. They remain in critical, but stable, condition as of Sunday. The boy has broken legs and the girl has head trauma, Hernandez said.
“We ask that our entire community comes together and prays for these beautiful babies and for all families involved in this terrible accident,” Barstow Fire said.
The Barstow Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the collision.
