Tu Thanh Thi Lam of Monroe Dies in DUI Crash on State Route 2 [Snohomish County, WA]

Snohomish County, WA (February 24, 2024) – 55-year-old Tu Thanh Thi Lam of Monroe was killed following a DUI crash on State Route 2 Wednesday evening.

The fatal collision happened around 6:22 p.m. near Three Lakes Road.

WSP officers said a 23-year-old Snohomish man was driving a westbound 2007 Toyota Highlander westbound on the freeway when the vehicle crossed the center line. The Highlander then struck a 2018 Toyota Sienna driven by Tu Thanh Thi Lam head-on.

Both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles following the collision.

Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue crews quickly performed triage and found the 23-year-old driver seriously injured and trapped in the vehicle. Rescuers freed him in about 12 minutes and rushed him to an area hospital.

Sadly, Tu Thanh Thi Lam was declared deceased at the scene.

The WSP officers are investigating if the 23-year-old driver will face charges.

Troopers closed SR 2 in both directions for more than 5 hours while investigating the fatal collision.
