1 Injured and 1 Detained after Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 3, 2020) – A person required hospitalization while the other got arrested after a motorcycle accident on Coffee Road.
At around 5:34 p.m. on December 31, Bakersfield Police Department officers came to the 200 block of Coffee Road after receiving a report of a vehicle and motorcycle collision.
Upon their arrival, they found out that a driver of a white SUV heading north on Coffee Road made “an unsafe lane change” and crashed with a male motorcyclist.
The SUV driver escaped the scene. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist sustained moderate to major injuries. Responders transported him to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the authorities located the SUV abandoned nearby. They also found the driver “hiding in a restaurant.”
Authorities arrested the 44-year-old woman Trumonikia Fields-Johnson on suspicion of hit-and-run involving injury and driving on a suspended license.
The police also ruled out alcohol, drugs, and speed as factors in the crash. They are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact BPD at 661-327-7111.
