Robert Rowland of Kenmore Arrested in SR 525 Deadly Crash
Lynnwood, WA (April 13, 2024) – 83-year-old Trudy Slanger of Lynnwood was killed following a pursuit crash on State Route 525 Thursday night.
The authorities received the crash report at 8 p.m. on the northbound SR 525 and 148th Street SW.
Investigators said the driver at fault, 37-year-old Robert Rowland of Kenmore, was a kidnapping suspect. Troopers said the 34-year-old kidnapping victim was inside Rowland’s vehicle during the pursuit.
Rowland drove the vehicle onto SR 525 in the wrong direction and the authorities stopped the chase.
WSP officers stated that the suspect drove south in the northbound lanes and struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Slanger head-on.
As a result, Rowland’s vehicle rolled and caught a fire.
One of the involved vehicles was mangled on top of the center cement barriers while the other sustained heavy damage.
Sadly, the authorities declared Trudy Slanger deceased at the scene.
Rowland and the kidnapping victim sustained injuries. The rescuers took them to two separate local hospitals.
Officers said Rowland is facing charges of kidnapping, first-degree domestic violence assault and second-degree murder.
