Upper Lake Car Accident on Elk Mountain Road
UPPER LAKE, CA (July 18, 2019) – A logging truck driver sustained injuries in a rollover car accident on July 16.
Authorities received reports of the single-vehicle crash just before 5:00 p.m. According to a nearby resident Larry Henry, the collision happened on a private road. He reported the accident half a mile south of the Middle Creek Campground, around 300 feet from Elk Mountain Road.
Upon the fire units’ arrival, they located the overturned truck off the road. The wreckage trapped the driver.
The Northshore Fire along with the US Forest Service and the California Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
Authorities also requested an air ambulance for the conscious driver and a heavy-duty tow truck.
Responders spent nearly an hour and a half to extricate the driver. They took him to a landing zone at the nearby Conservation Camp and from there flown to an out-of-county trauma center.
Staying within the lanes of the road is an extremely important rule of the road. If you feel yourself drifting into other lanes due to fatigue or any other reason, safely pull over and rest before continuing to drive.
