30-Year-Old El Cajon Man Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash near Nobel Drive
UNIVERSITY CITY, CA (September 12, 2018) – A man was injured early Wednesday morning following a big rig collision on Interstate 805. His name was not immediately shared with the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 2:45 AM near Nobel Drive. For unknown reasons, a northbound tractor-trailer veered out of a lane on the freeway and slammed into the rear of a disabled van.
The impact caused the big rig to careen at least 50 feet down a roadside slope. Responding medics later transported the big rig driver, identified as a 30-year-old El Cajon man, to a local hospital. He was treated for minor to moderately serious injuries before he was medically cleared and released. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No additional information has been released at this time.
